Nathan Campbell awarded 2010 Atlas Copco Scholarship
After knocking out some tough competition, Nathan Campbell, a third year mining engineering student at WASM in Kalgoorlie, took out the 2010 Atlas Copco Scholarship.
The judging panel were particularly impressed with the calibre of entrants this year commenting that the future of the Australian and indeed global mining industry would be in creative yet responsible hands.
"The AusIMM Awards dinner is attended by many mining professionals who have contributed so much to the industry and to be invited to this dinner to accept the 2010 Atlas Copco scholarship was a huge honour. I was humbled by the calibre of the other awards recipients and to think that I will one day aim to be filling those shoes is daunting to say the least! However, I believe that the Atlas Copco scholarship will give me a helping hand in coming to grips with the worldwide mining industry, as well as give me some direction in my ambition as a mining professional. I am extremely excited to be spending time with Atlas Copco, as well as the chance to see some of the world and gain a broader perspective of the mining industry. I would also like to thank Atlas Copco for offering such an incredible scholarship, as well as the AusIMM for their contribution and for having me at the awards dinner".
